European Championship 1976
The 1976 UEFA European Football Championship was hosted by Yugoslavia. Czechoslovakia, who had gotten the better of England in their qualifying group, prevented a replay of the 1974 World Cup final by defeating Holland in the semi-finals. The Czechoslovaks then went on to beat West Germany on penalties in the final, although it took the cheekiest of chipped balls by Czech midfielder Antonin Panenka to get the better of legendary German goalkeeper Sepp Maier.
