Diego Maradona Midfielder - Diego Maradona is universally recognised as one of the greatest footballers ever. He won the 1986 World Cup almost single-handedly and guided Napoli to it's only two Serie A titles. After his retirement from football, his life has been marred by drugs abuse, weight issues and heart problems.

Josef Masopust Midfielder - Josef Masopust captained Czechoslovakia to the final of the 1962 World Cup, and was voted European Footballer of the Year in recognition of his performance in Chili. The Dukla Prague player even scored the opener in the game, but the lead only lasted a few minutes, with Brazil going on to win 3-1.

Lothar Matthaus Defender - Lothar Matthäus captained West Germany to victory at the 1990 World Cup in Italy. Germany's record international was a tenacious and dynamic sweeper with a devastating shot, but also managed to acquire a reputation for underhandedness. Matthäus was voted European Footballer of the Year in 1990.

Stanley Matthews (Player 1932-1965)
Stanley Matthews Forward - The legendary English winger Stanley Matthews, who plied his trade for Stoke City and Blackpool, was know and feared for his superb dribbling skills. Remarkably, the man that was voted European Footballer of the Year in 1956 won only one major trophy during his lengthy career, the 1953 FA Cup.

Gerd Muller Forward - Gerd Müller was a lethal striker, who's goal-scoring instinct earned Bayern Munich an avalanche of silverware, and who scored the winner for Germany in the 1974 World Cup final. Der Bomber was voted European Footballer of the Year in 1970 and won the European Golden Boot in 1970 and 1972.
